In light of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, we understand that many of you have privacy concerns about your current reproductive health journey. We believe your tracked health data is yours alone and promise we will never share your personal information without your permission.

Women deserve privacy, dignity, respect, and support in all aspects of life, including healthcare. Since viO HealthTech’s mission is to empower you through data, we’re here to help you capture and organize personal data so it is easier for you to share with your clinical teams or trusted network. We want to assure you that your privacy has always been and will continue to be our top priority and that none of your personal information will ever be shared without your permission. As a class II-regulated medical device certified by the FDA, European, UK, Canadian and Australian authorities, we are required by enforced regulations to ensure data security is an integral part of our products.

Below, viO’s Chief Executive Officer Rob Milnes and Chief Technology Officer Al Pirrie are answering some of the top questions on people’s minds.

How does viO protect my privacy and data?

Your data is primarily stored on your phone, but it is also backed up to our servers to prevent losing any data if your phone is lost or damaged. All data transfer is protected by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, and the data is also encrypted when stored. Each packet of data is saved anonymously, and can only be accessed by the user that created it. Your account itself is protected by a password that you choose, which can be updated at any time.

Your email address, optional account name, and date of birth are the only personally identifiable elements of your data. You can opt to remain anonymous by using an anonymous email and omitting the optional info (Settings > About Me). That way, there is nothing to identify any data as belonging to you; it is only linked to the account for which only you know the password.

Does viO share or sell my information?

viO does not sell any user data. Anonymized cycle data is shared with our academic collaborators under a strict ethical protocol and is only used for researching women's health to continue to advance our digital therapeutic solutions.

How can I safely share my data with a trusted medical professional?

We provide a very secure means to share your data from within the viO app (Settings > Data Sharing > Share your data). Simply enter the email address of the medical professional, and an account will be created for them to access your data. Only your account and their account will be granted access to your data. You can cancel the sharing of your data at any time, and doing so will immediately prevent any further access.
